Job summary

A leading mining company is seeking a Superintendent for its Maintenance Department in Baker Lake, Nunavut. This role requires strong leadership and coaching skills, with 15+ years of mining experience focused on mobile equipment. The Superintendent will ensure operational efficiency and coordinate the maintenance team, promoting safety and sustainability. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Engineering and experience in asset management and project management. This role includes a fly-in fly-out work schedule with accommodations provided.

Reporting to the Surface Manager, you will be part of the Maintenance Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
  • Identify goals for the maintenance team in terms of efficiency, quality of work performed, and continuous improvement;
  • Ensure that the operational needs are met;
  • Provide vision and strategy to the Maintenance group in accordance to the operation and corporate objectives;
  • Coordinate the Maintenance Department for all operations on site;
  • Work with managers and superintendents to coordinate efforts to achieve departmental goals and deliverables;
  • Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds all production requirements by ensuring that the maintenance best practices program are in place;
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to all mining aspects and technical issues;
  • Mentor and provide training for subordinates and ensure development of succession plans and staff development programs;
  • Review, develop, implement and lead maintenance strategies;
  • Collaborate in the various budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control of allocated budget;
  • Revision and approval of communications and reporting (annual, monthly, project, etc);
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for Health and Safety culture and awareness;
  • Develop and lead maintenance partnerships with out-of-site partners.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
  • 15 or more years of mining experience focused on mobile equipment and fixed plants;
  • 7 years of experience working at a similar level or higher;
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management and project management;
  • Experience in managing department costs, budgeting and forecast;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
YOUR WORK SCHEDULE

Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest. Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
