About the Role

As a Sr. Workday developer, you’ll own the hands‑on configuration and development of solutions on the Workday HCM platform. You’ll work closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, IT, and Systems Analysts to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and high‑quality functional designs and integrations. A primary focus of this role will be on enhancing and customizing our Core HCM, Payroll, and Compensation modules to optimize our employee lifecycle and HR operations. You’ll also help create a highly reliable and performant Workday environment that ensures data integrity and compliance at scale. This is a 6–12 month contract position.

This position reports to our Sr. Director of Business Applications.

What you’ll do
  • Own the end‑to‑end configuration lifecycle, from design and testing to deployment of high‑quality, scalable solutions on the Workday platform.
  • Lead the implementation of complex integrations with third‑party systems (Benefits, Identity Management, etc.) using EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday Studio.
  • Develop and customize complex Business Processes (BPs) within Workday Core HCM, Payroll, and Compensation to support the entire employee lifecycle (hire‑to‑retire).
  • Partner with HR and Finance stakeholders to translate business requirements into well‑architected technical solutions and advanced reports.
  • Manage the bi‑annual Workday Feature Releases, analyzing release notes and coordinating regression testing to ensure platform stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, performing root cause analysis on integrations and configuration to maintain platform health.
  • Mentor stakeholders and provide technical guidance on Workday best practices, ensuring data governance and security compliance.
Skills you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands‑on Workday Techno‑Functional experience, with a proven track record of configuring complex HCM processes and building integrations.
  • Proven, in‑depth experience with Workday Core HCM, Payroll, and Compensation is mandatory, as a majority of the work will be focused in these areas.
  • Expertise in Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), Core Connectors, and Workday Studio.
  • Strong technical fluency with XML, XSLT, and Workday APIs (SOAP and REST) for building complex system integrations.
  • Proficiency with Workday security models, including Role‑Based, User‑Based, and Contextual Security Groups.
  • Active Workday HCM Certification or Workday Pro certification is required. Additional certifications in Compensation or Absence Management are a strong plus.
