Altea Active’s skating instructors are skating enthusiasts who are inspired to share their technical knowledge with their clients in an effective, safe, and progressive style. They have an innate ability to teach skating skills to a wide variety of clients, primarily working with children ages 3 – 8 years old. They excel at quickly creating rapport with participants and parents, and prescribing appropriate skating solutions to help clients achieve their goals.

You are a customer-oriented, friendly, outgoing professional with a talent for demonstrating proper equipment use, techniques, and movements, while ensuring safety, rules, and regulations are followed. You pride yourself on maintaining accurate, up-to-date records.

You are knowledgeable about the diverse needs of clients, including strength and conditioning, injury rehabilitation, and overall health and wellness. You maintain a welcoming presence, stay focused with clients, and promote proper posture and technique with enthusiasm.

You are a proactive individual with a knack for sales and a passion for working with children and youth, maintaining positivity and enthusiasm.

Qualifications include:

  • Nationally recognized personal training certification (must be maintained).
  • Post-secondary education in health, fitness, or recreation management.
  • At least 1+ year experience as a skating assistant.
  • Preferred: 1+ year coaching/teaching skating.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to skate continuously for 50 minutes, up to 3 hours in a day.
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques, managing large groups.
  • Effective relationship-building skills with instructors, managers, and parents.
  • Ability to motivate and energize others.
  • Sensitivity and interest in working with children and adolescents.
  • High energy, assertiveness, initiative, creativity, and openness to new techniques.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (must be maintained).
  • Recent Criminal Background Check prior to starting.
