Job description

Do you want to be part of Beaumont’s most exciting place to work in the City? The Beaumont Sport & Recreation Centre (BSRC) is looking for Casual Skate Monitors to join our growing team! This facility features an NHL‑sized ice rink with seating for spectators, a fieldhouse that can accommodate indoor soccer and lacrosse, a gymnasium for multi‑court play, a climbing wall, a running/walking track, concessions, multi‑purpose rooms, and an aquatic centre.

Do you glide through challenges as smoothly as you skate on ice? Are you the kind of person people naturally turn to for help, with exceptional customer service skills and a talent for problem solving? If connecting with others and finding solutions is second nature to you, this could be the perfect role for you!

What YOU’RE Responsible for:
  • Ensuring everyone’s time on the ice is safe and enjoyable by supervising public skating and stick and puck hockey sessions.
  • Being the go‑to person for questions and information about our arena programs.
  • Keeping track of attendance and confirming that all stick and puck participants have paid their fees.
  • Promoting safety by advising participants on requirements and making sure everyone follows the rules.
  • Acting as a guardian of safety by promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or near‑miss incidents.
  • Championing safety at regular meetings while fostering a positive attitude among the team.
  • Maintaining adherence to legislative regulations, safety procedures, and respectful workplace standards.
  • Jumping in to help with other duties as needed—teamwork is essential.
What YOU Bring:
  • A natural ability to connect with the public, including kids, in a friendly and approachable way.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts to keep the rink running smoothly.
  • Solid skating skills—yes, you’ll need your own skates and a helmet!
  • Valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to handle every situation with confidence.
  • The ability to work independently without constant supervision—you’re a pro at self‑management.
  • Flexibility to work across various arena locations, as needed.
  • A Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, that meets City standards.
What WE Offer:
  • An hourly rate of $18.03.
  • Up to 12 hours per week.
  • Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre.
  • An amazing team to work with!

If you’re ready to lace up your skates and bring your skills to the rink, we’d love to hear from you! Join our team and help make every visit to the arena a memorable one. If you meet these qualifications, please submit your cover letter and resume as one document by 9:00 AM on January 16, 2026.
