A leading healthcare provider in Edmonton is seeking a Service Worker I for the Intensive Care Unit. In this role, you will transport patients and equipment, replenish hospital supplies, and perform cleaning duties within the unit. You should have Grade 12 or equivalent, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Previous hospital experience is preferred, along with a strong knowledge of infection prevention. This position offers a competitive salary and a full-time temporary position.
The Royal Alexandra Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a high activity unit with 29 beds. Under the supervision of the ICU Unit Managers, this essential, supportive position is largely responsible for stocking of supplies in patient care rooms and carts throughout the unit as well as the cleaning of ICU equipment and patient transfer rooms. This includes preparing rooms for housekeeping, removal of soiled linens and garbage, as well as preparing patient rooms for admissions by stocking necessary supplies and equipment. The Service Worker I may be responsible for ordering materials, delivery of supplies, linen carts, equipment and/or specimens, assisting with the movement of equipment and patients, general housekeeping duties and other related tasks.
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Must be well organized and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and to adapt well to numerous demands and interruptions. Previous hospital experience preferred, and strong knowledge of infection prevention required. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and a positive attitude. Must have the physical ability to perform all aspects of the role.
