The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Treasury Analyst, to join our Finance & Treasury Team. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Treasury, the Senior Treasury Analyst will manage day‑to‑day treasury operations for Aviso and its subsidiaries, manage banking and counterparty relationships to negotiate and solicit optimal treasury products and interest rates, develop and maintain treasury financial modelling, prepare annual treasury budget and periodic forecasts to support business decisions, and ensure investment policy compliance. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the selection and successful implementation of a new Treasury system and build treasury strategies that support Aviso’s growth.

What your day looks like
  • Manage day‑to‑day cash management to ensure sufficient funding is available to support daily operations, clients’ margin loan borrowings, regulatory free client cash segregation requirements, counterparty collateral requirements, shareholders and Credit Unions’ dividend payment, and annual employees’ bonus payment. Ensure all SLAs are met
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly treasury reports to external and internal stakeholders that include but not limited to Board of Directors, executive and senior management, and department leaders. Reports include treasury interest and FX income, variance and attribution analysis of actual results vs budgeted treasury income, measure the impact of active management of corporate investments, interest rate risk sensitivity and economic value of equity metrics, among others
  • Challenge the status quo, streamline the processes to optimise efficiency and minimise errors due to manual processes
  • Acquire a solid understanding of Aviso’s products and services, and trading activities across all business lines to identify levers and drivers of cash balances and optimise treasury income
  • Develop and manage treasury portfolio model for fixed income securities, foreign currency derivatives and interest rate swaps to ensure market risk exposure stays within the investment policy limit and regulatory constraints; recommend, implement, and actively manage appropriate hedging strategies to mitigate interest rate risk
  • Prepare and report on IFRS 9 hedge effectiveness testing on interest rate swap positions on a quarterly basis
  • Manage relationships with Aviso’s capital market team, banks, Credit Unions and foreign currency counterparties to actively solicit more favourable yield on deposits, investments, and foreign exchange instruments to optimise Aviso’s treasury income
  • Monitor daily and monthly MTM P&L and policy compliance on the treasury portfolio
  • Monitor and report the regulatory capital measurement impact arising from Aviso’s investment and funding activities to VP Finance & Treasury and Director, Corporate Treasury
  • Provide morning market update on interest rate movements – CDOR, SWAP, CORRA, OIS rates to senior management
  • Prepare treasury income budgeting and forecasting to support business decisions for all business lines. Perform back‑testing to refine the budgeting and forecasting methodologies
  • Interact with counterparties and Internal trade desk to obtain market data and execute trade orders
  • Support the Finance team on the financial reporting of treasury related activities
  • Support the selection and implementation of a new Treasury system
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 7 years of experience in finance with 3+ years of relevant experience in a Treasury Analyst role. Experience in wealth management and asset management industry is an asset
  • Experience in researching and analysing green space opportunities and providing strategic insights is an asset
  • A professional designation, e.g. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Management (FRM) and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards a designation will be an asset
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and judgement, with financial modelling experience on interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and forecasting
  • Strong interest in capital markets, investment vehicles, stays current on market developments, industry trends, and emerging technologies
  • Proficient in analysing large volumes of data and extracting meaningful insights to support decision‑making
  • Familiar with interest rate derivatives and market conventions and hedge accounting under IFRS 9
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Office; experience with SQL and Bloomberg preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process optimisation and implement solutions
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment
  • Collaborate effectively, share knowledge, and support team success
  • Demonstrate business acumen, influence decisions, and build strong stakeholder relationships to drive impactful outcomes
  • Customer service oriented to respond quickly and effectively to non‑routine enquiries
  • Fluency (written and spoken) in English is required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
