About the Opportunity
  • Conduct technical evaluations, provide advice, and coordinate work across major facility systems.
  • Prepare reports to respond to external requests, document historical information, and initiate studies or investigations for improvement.
  • Review proposals from internal and external sources, recommend revisions, and provide written recommendations for approval.
  • Develop specifications for materials, services, and equipment; support procurement and provide technical oversight during installation.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing conditions and applicable codes and standards related to fire protection programs.
  • Provide expert guidance on fire hazard assessments, fire response equipment lifecycle, and personal protective equipment.
  • Interpret compliance requirements with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, ensuring operational adherence.
  • Monitor fire protection systems and equipment, initiating compensatory measures when deficiencies are identified.
  • Support the development and updating of standards, procedures, and guides to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with fire risk assessments, including analysis of system impairments, hazard assessments, and shutdown scenarios, identifying performance-based strategies for compliance.
  • Develop response plans for potential fire scenarios based on safety and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing review processes to identify risks from equipment, staffing, training, or procedural gaps, recommending modifications to fire response protocols.
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify solutions and implement effective fire protection service delivery options.
  • Ensure regulatory correspondence meets required standards and that corrective action plans are in place for directives or recommendations.
  • Support coordination with external fire protection and emergency response groups.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of fire protection engineering, hazard assessment, safe shutdown analysis, and relevant building and fire codes.
  • Familiarity with national and international standards governing fire protection systems and processes.
  • Ability to evaluate and propose improvements to fire protection equipment, systems, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
  • Fire response experience or knowledge is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and engage with external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Pay Range

$69.31 - $79.31/hr
