Job summary

Overview

Your role
  • Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
  • Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
  • Identify potential structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
  • Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
  • Review and comment on the work performed by the others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
  • Perform engineering design and reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations for repair and reinforcing of structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents.
  • Provide technical instructions to Junior engineers.
  • Attend meetings with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.
  • This role requires consistent on‑site presence and may involve supporting a shift work schedule based on operational needs.
About you
  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University. Master’s degree and above is an asset.
  • Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada. Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Minimum 12 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
  • Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design‑office and site experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
  • Must have experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
