Overview

Senior SEO Manager (CA) at Black & White Zebra

This full-time position is available as a remote role with the option to use our office in Vancouver, BC if you live locally. The base salary range is CA$100,000.00 to CA$130,000.00 per year, with additional compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Salary ranges are indicative and may vary based on location, experience, and market data.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Technical SEO Leadership: Own comprehensive technical SEO initiatives (crawlability, indexability, structured data, site speed, mobile optimization, internal linking, site architecture). Conduct regular audits (e.g., Screaming Frog), diagnose issues, and implement optimization strategies across a portfolio of sites. Collaborate with engineering to translate SEO requirements into development work.
  • Content & Authority Building: Maintain and evolve keyword research, identify high-value opportunities, conduct gap analyses, and optimize content for visibility, engagement, and lead generation. Support Digital PR in prioritizing backlink opportunities and tracking link-building initiatives.
  • Analytics, Insights, & Experimentation: Monitor performance using GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, and internal tools; provide cause / effect analyses and actionable insights. Develop and run SEO testing initiatives from ideation to measurement.
  • AI, Automation & Systems: Use AI tools and automation to improve efficiency, performance monitoring, and scalable SEO systems and processes.
  • Collaboration & Strategic Partnership: Work cross-functionally with content, design, engineering, and operations to plan and execute SEO initiatives aligned with business goals. Serve as internal SEO expert and guide strategy with the Director of Content & SEO.
What You’ll Be Measured By
  • Organic performance: Growth in keyword rankings, organic traffic, and visibility across priority topics and content clusters.
  • Technical SEO health: Site speed, crawlability, indexability, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and overall site architecture.
  • Authority & content optimization: Backlinks, domain authority, and content engagement.
  • Systems & scalability: AI-driven workflows and scalable processes that improve efficiency and execution at scale.
Your Skillset
  • SEO leadership: 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience with a track record of driving growth in competitive markets.
  • Technical depth: Expertise in site speed, structured data, crawlability, Core Web Vitals, and scalable architecture.
  • Operationalization: Experience applying SEO frameworks across multiple sites (e.g., scalable internal linking, templated content structures).
  • Tools & data: Proficiency with Wordpress, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GA4, GSC, Looker Studio; strong Excel / Google Sheets for analysis and reporting.
  • Content alignment: Ability to bridge SEO strategy with content and digital PR teams to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • AI & automation: Proven ability to apply AI tools to improve efficiency and impact.
  • Testing & experimentation: Experience designing and running SEO experiments and measuring outcomes, including emerging SERP features.
  • Analytical mindset: Strong ability to surface insights and communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Effective cross-functional influence and alignment around SEO priorities.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in B2B SaaS or similarly competitive industries.
  • Experience with AirTable for content lifecycle management.
  • Experience with JavaScript and scalable SEO automations.
  • Knowledge of server-side SEO factors, such as log file analysis and developer collaboration.
  • Active participation in the SEO community (writing, speaking, thought leadership).
