Overview
The Process Engineer manages the entire cement manufacturing process. This position analyzes the process and suggests ways to improve operations.
Responsibilities
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Analyze the cement production process and implement changes for optimal operating conditions for fuel efficiency, electrical efficiency and production rate.
- Participates in the training of the control room operators on the proper ways of using plant equipment.
- Work closely with shift process teams to ensure mills and pyro lines are consistently operated at peak efficiency.
- Perform programming of the plant’s programmable control systems and provide maintenance, documentation and improvements for computerized process systems.
- Perform performance testing and measurements on production equipment.
- Provide technical support to the Production Department to maximize plant production of quality-controlled cement efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Optimize process by testing, data gathering, sampling and in-house expertise to enable continual improvement in the production process.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- 4 year / Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical engineering or closely related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a mechanical, chemical engineering or closely related field
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Proficient in analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently
- Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
- Knowledge of pyro processing, thermodynamics, heat transfer, air flow and related principles
- Knowledge of PLC systems and instrumentation techniques and guidelines
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
- Ability to work from general policies and objectives
- Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organizational policy is in question
