Job description

Our client is a market leader in manufacturing household products and is seeking a Senior Plant Manager for their location in the Greater Toronto Area. Reporting to the General Manager, Operations, this role is a key part of the Manufacturing and Operations department.

Responsibilities :

  1. Develop manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure products meet quality standards.
  2. Optimize employee levels, overhead, and raw material costs to meet budget goals.
  3. Implement policies to maintain and enhance the facility's competitive position and profitability.
  4. Supervise department managers to achieve manufacturing and safety goals.
  5. Hire, train, evaluate staff, and manage performance and conflict resolution.
  6. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, consulting with HR as needed.
  7. Identify and implement productivity, cost reduction, and scrap reduction initiatives.
  8. Establish and maintain production standards.
  9. Coordinate programs related to safety, training, housekeeping, and security.
  10. Lead major projects such as plant layout changes and equipment installation.
  11. Maintain professional relationships and effective communication within the team.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Attributes :

  • Ability to set metrics and hold teams accountable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools like Six Sigma, Lean, 5-S.
  • Knowledge of safety systems and enforcement.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, adaptable and flexible.
  • Team-oriented with decision-making abilities.
  • Results-driven and highly motivated.

Qualifications :

  • At least 7 years of manufacturing management experience, including 3+ years as a supervisor or manager.

  • Proven success in team building, change management, and cost performance.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
  • Degree in Engineering or related field; Master's degree and Six Sigma certification preferred.
