A leading consulting engineering organization in Edmonton is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC systems. This role demands extensive HVAC project management experience and involves collaboration with architects and engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards. Position Overview:
Precision Human Capital is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in Alberta for our client. Key Responsibilities
Utilize TRACE 700 and TRACE 3D software to design HVAC systems for various types of buildings, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Perform detailed load calculations to determine the heating, cooling, and ventilation requirements of buildings.
Conduct energy modeling and simulations to assess the performance of HVAC systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
Manage HVAC projects from conception through completion, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within budget.
Provide technical support and guidance to clients, contractors, and other team members regarding HVAC systems and design considerations.
Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and drawings for HVAC projects.
Ensure all designs and installations comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Work closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into building designs.
Key Requirements:
Mechanical Engineering Degree (Bachelor Degree)
10-12 Years experience minimum
Previous experience providing consulting engineering services (with smaller consulting firms)
Experience with petrochemical, industrial and manufacturing sector projects
APEGA Registration Eligibility (Registration in other provinces in Canada is acceptable as well)
Experience with B31.3, ASHRAE, National Plumbing Code, National Fire Code
Experience in designing heating and cooling systems including design calculations (TRACE 700 or TRACE 3D)
Experience with equipment vendor coordination and equipment selection
Experience overseeing technical package preparation and design development including quality checking
Project Management & Controls experience
Leadership skills and team building skills
Experience in preparation of technical reports and specifications
Interest in responsibility for potential overseeing business operations
Interpersonal skills to allow effective liaison with clients
Familiarity with contract review and negotiations
Experience with managing multiple project scopes at one time.
Previous ownership experience (ie. Sole proprietorship or previous small business owner)
