Senior Mechanical Designer

The Senior Mechanical Designer supports the development of mechanical components for Sonova hearing products, from early concept through product launch. This role focuses on high-precision design, hands‑on problem solving, and collaboration with production teams to ensure quality, functionality, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop precision plastic and sheet-metal components for miniature, injection-molded products using Creo (Pro/ENGINEER)
  • Create and document inspection criteria for components and materials
  • Participate in engineering problem-solving throughout development, tooling, and molding stages
  • Conduct hands‑on prototyping and testing from concept to mass production
  • Inspect parts for compliance with design intent and quality standards
  • Collaborate with tool and molding suppliers during fabrication and commissioning
  • Support production and Quality Assurance by analyzing and resolving mechanical and assembly‑related issues
More about you:
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology
  • At least 8 years of experience in mechanical component and assembly design, ideally involving miniature or thin‑wall plastic components for injection molding
  • Strong hands‑on background in DFM, DFA, and tolerance analysis
  • Proficiency with Creo/ProE (including advanced surfacing) and PDM/Windchill
  • Familiarity with machining, mold tooling, injection molding, and assembly processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams; English required, German or Spanish an asset
