The Senior Manager, Metallurgy & Mineral Processing will directly manage metallurgists and report to the Vice-President Metallurgy & Engineering. The role will provide technical expertise to an area including, but not limited to: tax, law, IT, geology, resource modeling, metallurgy, permitting, environment, maintenance, mine planning, engineering, operations and / or global power. Coordinates the design and implementation of technical plans and projects, ensuring their alignment with short and medium term organizational strategies. Provides information to team members that address internal or external business and regulatory issues and implements recommendations that affect the direction of the business. Contributes to the maximization of operational efficiencies and profitability by staying updated on current and emerging practices and technologies that are a source of key competitive advantage.
Assists in developing and implementing strategies and initiatives that support the organization’s 4PP. Proactively ensures Metallurgy and Mineral Processing initiatives fully consider health, safety and the impact on the environment and surrounding communities. Fosters a work environment where safety is a top priority. Assists in the development of policies and procedures relating to safety and the environment. Ensures that mine site technical staff and respective work areas are in compliance with Health and Safety policies and regulations. Ensures that mine site Processing staff have the necessary training, skills, knowledge, and tools to maintain Kinross’ high EHS performance and standards. Assists in accident and incident investigations and supports the implementation of new policies and procedures by agreed upon dates. Wears required safety equipment while at mine sites.
