Qualifications

Reporting to the Director, Expense – Financial Planning & Forecasting, the Senior Manager, GBM Financial Planning & Analysis, is part of a team responsible for providing value-added analytical and strategic support on expenses to GBM’s business lines, regions (Canada, US, Europe, Asia) and Senior Management to facilitate the achievement of GBM’s expense targets. The GBM Expense team is the primary point of contact between Global Finance and GBM’s business lines with respect to expense management and controls. The position is a business partner to elevate analytics and provide insights to internal clients, as well as to support Finance processes like Strategic Plan, Forecast, quarter, and month end reporting

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Financial Forecasting and Planning – Prepare and update financial plans, forecasts, budgets, stress tests, and other forward-looking financial outlooks.
  • Business Line & Regional Reporting – Develop and maintain reports and key expense metrics to provide analytical guidance on the expense reporting framework including productivity savings, controllable expenses, and other expense reduction opportunities.
  • Financial Analysis – Identify potential issues and provide commentary related to financial results and/or forecasts, including identification of key expense drivers and significant trends.
  • Strategic Partner to Business Line – Provide analysis, support and counsel to business line management related to planning and forecasting. Conduct financial reviews/investigations of strategic business initiatives. Actively seeks ideas for potential cost savings and recommends improvements to business partners.
  • Ad Hoc Requests – Support requests from Executive Management, auditors, regulators, ratings agencies, research analysts, and other external parties as required. Prepare and provide analytical support including analysis and data related to business line, product, geography, or client.
  • Team Environment – Contributes to an environment in which the team works together to produce tailored and value-added strategic analysis while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Excellent analytical skills and Excel skills including financial modelling.
  • Results oriented, detail oriented, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with proven ability to apply this knowledge to provide influential analysis to Senior Management.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills and proven ability to provide insightful and influential analysis to Senior Management.
  • Understanding GBM’s business lines, financial reporting process, compliance policies, performance measurement, planning and analysis, service standards, and legal and regulatory requirements is preferred
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s financial reporting systems such as EGL, OBI and Hyperion strongly desired
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines, in some cases on special projects and tasks requiring creative analysis and solutions.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration, Chartered Professional Accountant, or comparable experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in GBM business line and Finance experience is preferred
