We're seeking an experienced IT Solutions Architect with a strong background in enterprise architecture, information security frameworks, and secure infrastructure design. This is a 100% onsite role based in Regina, focused on supporting the development, modernization, and security of critical IT systems within the Government.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience architecting solutions within government or similar public-sector environments, hands-on expertise with DevSecOps practices, and a deep understanding of formal design methodologies and security frameworks such as ISO 27001.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and high-performance IT solutions within the GOS environment.
  • Participate in project design reviews to ensure compliance with security and infrastructure standards.
  • Collaborate with internal Solution Architects and third-party vendors to identify and implement cloud security controls, endpoint protection, and secure integration practices.
  • Analyze existing IT environments, detect deficiencies, and propose optimized solutions aligned with best practices.
  • Conduct and evaluate Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs) to support IT-related business initiatives.
  • Ensure architectural solutions address regulatory, legislative, and compliance obligations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and provide recommendations for adoption.
  • Lead or advise on critical infrastructure upgrades, legacy retirement, and secure transitions to new platforms.
  • Provide expert input into security governance, risk mitigation, and incident/problem resolution efforts.
  • Offer security advisory services for enterprise solutions, procurements, and ongoing operations.
  • Produce documentation and reports to support architecture decisions, security advisories, and technical recommendations.
  • Ensure proper stewardship of data assets, maintaining balance between access, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently during incidents or architectural conflicts.
  • Contribute to education and awareness initiatives around information security within the organization.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience as a lead IT Architect or having led major subsystems, with successful implementation of solutions.
  • Experience with formal IT design methodologies and standard frameworks for information security controls.
  • Expertise in one or more industry standard security frameworks, such as ISO 27001, NIST, or SABSA.
  • DevSecOps experience, including security automation and secure CI/CD pipelines for enterprise-grade systems.
  • Practical knowledge of multiple architecture methodologies with the ability to compare and apply them effectively.
  • Experience with cloud security, endpoint protection, network security, and secure integrations.
  • Familiarity with GOS technical and business landscape, or comparable public-sector entities (heavily weighted).
  • Demonstrated involvement as an architect through the entire solution lifecycle - from strategy to implementation and support.
  • Experience in incident and problem management, collaborating across teams to ensure resolution.
Desirable Qualifications
  • TOGAF, SABSA, or other recognized Architecture certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Completion of at least one formal course in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 fundamentals).
  • Prior experience working with or within Government of Saskatchewan or similar public-sector IT environments.
Key Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, especially in explaining complex architectural solutions to business and technical audiences.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep commitment to security, compliance, and continuous improvement.
