Role description:

The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of environmental construction and consulting projects from global, high-profile clients to smaller projects, ensuring the costs are estimated properly including meeting bonds and insurance requirements of the bid. Your expertise in planning, estimating, budgeting, and managing costs will drive growth and smarter working. You will help manage the delivery of cost management in the environmental construction sector of small/medium/large projects, ensuring standards of delivery meet defined objectives.

Role accountabilities

Role accountabilities include being responsible for conceptual planning, pre-bid, hard-bid, and negotiated contracts. This involves interpreting and quantifying plans and specifications, surveying existing site conditions, soliciting material and subcontractor bids, preparing cost estimates, and compiling bid documents and proposals. The role also requires preparing estimating procedures and conducting overall estimating reviews and justifications. Supporting the Project Controls team in decision-making is an essential aspect, as is creating project costings and budgets based on clear objectives and managing finances across projects to ensure profit and budgetary targets are met, while achieving best value outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include leading and complying with Arcadis requirements for bonding and insurance during pursuits, as well as leading or participating in GO/NO GO calls and Global Pursuit Committee calls. The role involves leading and managing individual cost management assignments from inception to completion, overseeing teams and resources to ensure delivery standards meet client expectations. Monitoring and reviewing the performance and behavior of team members, including educating and influencing others, and taking action to ensure compliance with organizational policies and codes of conduct across the entire project team is also required.

Ensuring compliance with contracts in terms of project delivery parameters and scope of service is critical. The role also involves analyzing and compiling a range of complex data and documents, leveraging knowledge to review and assess analysis, and providing recommendations to contribute to project decision-making. Applying industry best practices supports the ongoing development of current cost and commercial management systems and processes. There is a focus on improving services and driving innovation to enhance team contributions to project delivery.

Managing relationships with customers to identify opportunities for improving the cost management offering and delivering customer satisfaction is an important aspect. Acting as a key technical resource within the field of cost and commercial management, the role provides technical advice and solutions to internal colleagues to support successful project delivery across a range of projects. Finally, building valued relationships with senior clients and stakeholders helps to ensure client satisfaction, develop the cost management service, and create new business opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying) and 10 or more years’ relevant experience
  • Relevant professional certification (i.e., Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering [AACE], RICS or similar)
  • Relevant professional experience in a similar working environment, including delivering medium/large projects across an entire project life cycle.
  • Experience managing people and demonstration of leadership skills, including the ability to motivate others.
  • Experience building and managing client relationships at senior-management level, including the ability to act as a trusted advisor.

The salary range for this position is $95,900-137,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
