The Opportunity
- Trace Associates Inc. (Trace) is seeking an experienced Environmental Geoscientist or Environmental Geoscientist to join our growing team in British Columbia (BC).
- This senior role will focus on managing complex and rewarding projects in the mining and contaminated sites sector, with support from our technical experts. You will be leading environmental and geotechnical investigations to support mine closure planning and brownfield redevelopment that directly shapes the future of responsible resource development and land use in BC and across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage projects related to mine closure, abandoned mines, brownfield redevelopment, environmental technical reviews and mine permitting.
- Navigate and apply regulatory frameworks including the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, BC Mines Act, and Environmental Management Act.
- Oversee environmental site assessments, permitting, and closure planning.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior team members.
- Build and maintain good relationships with our clients, regulators, suppliers, and peers and identify new project opportunities.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and regulatory submissions.
- Support and mentor junior and intermediate professionals.
- Advise on projects across Canada.
- Enhance Trace’s reputation.
- Seek and implement opportunities for innovation and efficiencies.
About You and Your Qualifications
- 10+ years relevant experience.
- Registered (or eligible) as a P.Geo. or P.Eng. in BC.
- In-depth knowledge of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, BC Mines Act, and Environmental Management Act.
- Experience managing projects with metal leaching/acid rock drainage (ML/ARD) concerns, embankment design, slope stability, geotechnical engineering and dam safety is a benefit.
- Proven experience engaging and working with First Nations is a benefit.
- Strong project management skills, including budget and schedule management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to energetically solve problems.
- Understanding of applicable provincial and federal legislation and guidance.
