Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specializing in the design and oversight of underground structure projects for major civil works. The candidate will join the Québec Mining Stability team and occasionally collaborate on mining projects, while focusing primarily on civil infrastructure (tramway, metro, technical galleries, etc.). You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior and intermediate team members, and work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and supervise geotechnical design studies for underground structures (tunnels, galleries, retaining systems).
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure technical quality of deliverables.
  • Participate in geotechnical risk management, contracting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological parameters for design.
  • Prepare detailed technical deliverables (geotechnical conditions, GBR, calculation notes, plans, and specifications).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, environment, hydrogeology, electromechanics, etc.).
  • Contribute to innovation and optimization in underground structure design projects across Canada.
Desired Profile
  • Degree: Civil Engineer or Geologist, active member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec, with specialization in geotechnics/rock mechanics.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years in design and supervision of geotechnical works, preferably civil underground (tunnels, galleries) in rock.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and codes (AFTES, ITA, CSA, Eurocodes, ASTM, FHWA, etc.).
  • Skills in numerical modeling (Plaxis, FLAC, Rocscience suite) and support structure calculations.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
  • French-speaking, with good English proficiency.
  • Asset: Experience in mining or hydroelectric projects.
