A community support organization is seeking a Senior Emergency Shelter Support Worker in Hamilton, Ontario. In this role, you'll provide crucial support to individuals and couples facing homelessness, emphasizing crisis intervention and housing-focused services. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in the housing sector and a diploma in Social Services. Hours of work: The successful candidates must be available for 12-hour shifts.
Good Shepherd is preparing to launch a new, innovative shelter that will provide emergency accommodation to individuals and domestic partnerships currently living in encampments - we are seeking a Senior Emergency Shelter Support Worker.
Please be advised, this is not a PSW position.
This housing-focused shelter program, will offer stand-alone units for residents (and their pets) on a city-owned site at Tiffany and Barton Streets. The program team will provide intensive, adaptive supports and services to residents with highly complex barriers to finding and sustaining housing in the community.

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, you will provide critical support to clients with high-complexity needs, focusing on emergency responses within the shelter. This role includes working with the Senior Program Manager in the development and implementation of enhanced support frameworks to improve shelter operations. Ideal candidates bring several years of progressive experience in senior/advanced crisis intervention skills, in-depth knowledge of mental health and addiction support, and supporting program development and implementation in emergency contexts.
