Job description
Overview

ICE Dragon is hiring a senior corrosion field technician to partner with our long-standing client in Halifax. You will champion the implementation of a Corrosion Support Program with full support from our central project team in Ottawa. Home base for these roles will be onsite with our client, with occasional travel to Ottawa / Toronto as required.

Responsibilities
  • You will introduce the program and your team's role to the many field stakeholders and ramp up the uptake of the program services.
  • You will have an authoritative, confident, approachable, and friendly demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively and frequently with all types of people (from leadership to field personnel).
  • You will be able to quickly build trust with many stakeholders in a complex organisational structure.
  • Your actions and positive attitude will support a proactive maintenance culture through coaching and oversight.
  • You will be well-organised, have excellent follow-through and accountability, solid time management and able to accurately follow processes and provide reliable reporting.
  • You prefer to be in the field for most of the workday, being physically active, working beside the client on practical activities (time split approx. 80% field vs. 20% office / reporting).
  • You are supportive, collaborative, helpful, responsive, friendly, with a can-do / no nonsense attitude.
  • You have the confidence to work autonomously but know when to ask for help from your team.
  • You will provide onsite support to client in the field for corrosion audits, data collection, maintenance activities, and common defect issues.
  • You will support the client with practical corrosion, painting and husbandry knowledge and coaching on basic maintenance tasks (training will also be provided).
  • You will be the link between the site and the central Corrosion Program, communicating data and feedback and requests with the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident with 5 years in Canada (and must be eligible for governmental security clearance)
  • Minimum of a technician level or technical degree / diploma in corrosion or related subjects, or an Engineering Degree
  • Related AMPP, coating inspector or related qualifications are strongly preferred (e.g. AMPP CIP Level 2 or equivalent, AMPP CP, etc).
  • Min. 5 years of field experience in reliability, condition monitoring, NDT, inspections, etc.
  • Strong project management of multiple, concurrent activities and stakeholder requirements.
  • Mature, professional with strong verbal communication and coaching skills. Fluent English required. French is considered an asset.
  • Ability to rapidly gain knowledge as training is provided and program requirements evolve.
  • Willingness to train and mentor junior team members

Compensation and Benefits

Base wage starts at $100,000 annually and will depend on experience. A 10% bonus will be offered based on company and personal performance. We offer health benefits, flexible working arrangements, RRSP matching, minimum of 15 days PTO / year, training subsidies, and high levels of autonomy.
