A unique opportunity to live and work in the Canadian Rocky Mountains! An established consulting firm is currently seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager / Project Engineer to join its Canmore Land Development and Municipal Engineering team.

Reporting to the Area Manager in Canmore, this position’s responsibilities include working on a wide variety of projects in terms of type and scale, including leading municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway infrastructure, and site servicing projects for public and private clients. Services include planning, design, and construction administration. As a key member of the team, you will deal directly with clients and regulatory agencies.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Work with the Manager to build the existing Land Development and Municipal Engineering practice in the region
  • Provide mentorship to new and existing junior staff
  • Work with team members to complete, oversee, and manage design and project execution for land development and municipal infrastructure projects, including site developments, municipal upgrades, water resources, watermain and sewage collection rehabilitation, and road design
  • Actively participate in design and provide direction to the design team throughout the design process
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams on major infrastructure projects
  • Liaise with municipal, utility, and approval agencies
  • Perform site inspections as required
  • Be responsible for project budgets, schedules, and client communications
  • Apply proven design experience, including conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design
  • Contribute to RFPs, bids, and proposal documents
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll bring:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in municipal infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta
  • Technologist qualification may be considered with appropriate professional certification and ability to stamp documents
  • PMP designation is an asset
  • Strong knowledge and application of municipal standards and guidelines
  • Project management experience on municipal and/or private sector projects
  • Experience with storm, sewer, watermain, and road design
  • Familiarity with local planning and approval processes
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience working with southern Alberta municipalities and/or in a mountain setting is considered an asset
