What will you be doing!

  • Planning:
    • Leading budgeting and forecasting efforts, aligning with performance metrics and funding constraints.
    • Analyzing performance within a fully projectized reporting environment.
    • Mentoring and coaching staff to strengthen planning contributions across HWP.
    • Organizing and developing HWP input for Strategic, Business, and Long-Term Plans.
    • Evaluating project and program performance and recommending strategic actions.
    • Developing procedures to ensure compliance with CNL and federal requirements.
  • Reporting:
    • Coordinating reports and presentations from multiple branches for diverse stakeholders.
    • Representing the HWP Program Office as a delegate in meetings and communications.
    • Managing cyclical reporting requirements and ensuring timely delivery.
    • Creating clear, tailored presentations for various audiences.
    • Aligning planning documents and reports with HWP, CNL, and Government standards.
    • Writing and editing high-level reports to maintain clarity, consistency, and tone.
    • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • At minimum, a post-secondary education with preference given to a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business or a related discipline. A graduate-level degree (e.g., MBA) and/or a PMP designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience
    • Ideal candidates will have five (5) to seven (7) years demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary subjects/topics involving organizing, planning, coordinating, assessing, analyzing and presenting information and ideas in a coherent manner.
    • A minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in an analytically intensive setting (e.g., corporate/business management analysis, policy analysis) and demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders during potentially contentious situations.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Leadership: Leading the development of HWP input for Strategic, Annual, and Long-Term Business Plans.
    • Analytical: Assessing performance and trends to recommend data-driven actions.
    • Process-Oriented: Supporting development of compliant procedures aligned with CNL and federal standards.
    • Strategic Thinking: Navigating complex planning/reporting structures to meet internal and external requirements.
    • Presentation Skills: Delivering clear, tailored presentations to diverse audiences.
    • Communication: Communicating effectively in English with clarity and diplomacy across all stakeholder levels.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • Typical home office setting – highly computer-based; must be able to work effectively while sitting for long periods of time analyzing information or writing reports.

Location:

CNL's Historic Waste Program Management Office is in Port Hope, Ontario's beautiful and historic community. Roughly 100 km east of Toronto, it is still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City.” As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low-Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario demonstrates Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.

CNL works with employees across Canada to enable a remote workforce where possible. Our work-from-home employees are provided with the equipment required to be successful: laptop, monitor, external keyboard and mouse, etc. Of course, we always love a visit to the site when possible!
