Job summary

A leading public works equipment distributor in Barrie, Ontario is seeking a Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience in accounting roles, strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, and proficiency in Dynamics 365 and Office 365. This permanent position offers a competitive salary along with an annual bonus, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive work environment. Flexibility with four days in the office and one work-from-home day is provided.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in an Accountant position or related accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles for Canada and the US.
  • Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Execute, analyze, and distribute financial statements and reports.
  • Perform month end reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Reconcile and accrue monthly commissions.
  • Assist in internal and external audit requests.

Position Requirements/Qualifications
Education/ Certification
  • Post-Secondary Advanced Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, a related program OR equivalent experience
  • CPA (completed or in progress) is an asset
Experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in an Accountant position or a related accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP and IFRS) for Canada and the US
  • Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment
  • Experience with accounting software and the ability to learn new systems, including ERP
  • Advanced experience using Office 365, with a focus on Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Dynamics 365 experience is an asset
  • Experience working as an accountant in a publicly traded corporation
Position Responsibilities
  • Execute, analyze and distribute various financial statements and reports
  • Oversee the GL Mapper, account updates and monthly uploading of corporate reporting
  • Perform month end reconciliations and journal entries
  • Reconcile & accrue monthly commissions
  • Compile monthly rental revenue reports and liaise with the rentals team
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies across multiple entities
  • Complete all monthly working papers & provide flux commentary on variances
  • Investigate and respond to internal and external inquiries and provide data as requested
  • Assist in internal & external audit requests & ad hoc tax audits
  • Report on critical quarterly disclosures in an accurate and timely manner
  • Aid & support in ongoing initiatives and expansion
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned
