Security Guard - Trans Mountain Pipeline

Commissionaires BC is looking for dedicated and reliable Security Guards to join our team working with Trans Mountain in Burnaby.

Note - this is a unionized site, excluding supervisor positions.

Shift times

Burnaby Station: Mobile Supervisor/Guard/CCTV Operator positions — 4 days on 4 days off, 6am till 6pm.

Westridge Terminal – Burnaby: 4 days on 4 days off, 6am till 6pm.

Pay rate: from $21/hr.

Your “must haves”
  • Valid BC Security Licence
  • Basic First Aid Certificate
  • Successfully be able to complete various site required training
  • Be comfortable using 2 way radios
  • Superior customer service and communications skills
  • High level of attention to detail and dress and deportment
  • Able to sit and walk for long periods of time, including walking over uneven terrain
  • Comfortable and confident using computers
Key Responsibilities
Access Control
  • Screen personnel attempting to access the site based on post orders
  • Operate access doors and gates
  • Provide visitor escorts when required
  • Use SPLAN visitor access system and electronic access cards
Patrolling
  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, including remote locations
  • Assess site conditions (terrain, weather, lighting) to determine best security posture
  • Maintain high visibility in uniform and marked vehicle
  • Drive safely on varied road conditions (gravel, snow, ice, mud)
Security & Incident Response
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, incidents, and interactions
  • Act as a visible deterrent to criminal activity and policy violations
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Detect and mitigate trespassing on Trans Mountain sites
Reporting & Documentation
  • Complete Security Shift Reports and Incident Reports
  • Record and document evidence as required
  • Communicate incidents to Trans Mountain management and authorities
Technology & Communication
  • Use radios, base station radios, and mobile phones
  • Operate Telaris handheld card reader and other site-specific tech
  • Send and receive emails and reports using provided devices
