Overview
The Safety & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and executing all aspects of facility maintenance and workplace safety. This role ensures the reliability of equipment through hands-on troubleshooting and oversight of preventive and corrective maintenance programs, while maintaining full compliance with OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations and promoting a safe, efficient work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing and performing equipment/facility maintenance and repairs
- Leading daily safety checks, training, and toolbox talks
- Investigating incidents and managing Workers’ Comp claims
- Supervising maintenance staff and promoting a strong safety culture
- Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the Company Quality Management System by:
- Taking accountability for the effectiveness of the quality management system
- Ensuring that the quality policy and quality objectives are established for the quality management system and are compatible with the context and strategic direction of the organization
- Promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking
- Ensuring that the resources needed for the quality management system are available
- Communicating the importance of effective quality management and of conforming to the quality management system requirements
- Ensuring that the quality management system achieves its intended results
- Engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system
- Promoting improvement
- Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their areas of responsibility
Qualifications
- Education: Associates degree in business or equivalent specialized experience
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience (industrial equipment)
- Specialized knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA safety requirements
- Leadership experience and ability to train crews
- OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, or trade certifications
- Skills:
- Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Analytical, statistical, and critical thinking skills
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, and teamwork
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office applications software
- Abilities:
- Independent, self-motivated with drive and initiative

- Demonstrated time management skills
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagrammatic form
- Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Regular attendance during established hours and overtime as required

Working Conditions
Temperature-controlled office with moderate noise level. Occasional exposure to manufacturing area with dust, noise, moving machinery, and humidity. Personal protective equipment as required. Office position; Spends the majority of the work shift sitting. Generally requires clear vision at 20 inches or less for reading. May include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 25 lbs. with no assistance.
