Job description
The Agency

The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a charity that reduces crime and makes Calgary communities safer by helping youth and adults make positive changes and move away from criminal behaviour. CJHS addresses root causes of crime through housing, education, employment programs and support so that individuals have alternatives to breaking the law. CJHS is committed to restorative justice and an organizational environment that recognizes the dignity and worth of each person. Various restorative processes are used such as restorative processes, victim/offender dialogue, circles and crime impact sessions. Relationship-building and enhancement is at the core of this program.

The Position

Reporting to the Community Outreach and Advocacy Services Manager, the Restorative Solutions to Conflict Facilitator will work in an integrated and collaborative way with the Community Youth Integration Advocate, Community Outreach and Advocacy Services Team, wider CJHS Team and the community. Through two restorative justice programs, Victim Offender Dialogue and Crime Impact Sessions, the facilitator ensures individuals at risk of or involved in the criminal justice system have an opportunity to engage in and are supported throughout a restorative process. This includes preparing for and facilitating an appropriate restorative process, providing additional support as required, conducting participant evaluation, generating reports, and building relationships with referral sources.
