Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Residential Account Representative plays a key role in growing Parkland’s residential customer base within the Cape Breton region. This field‑based role focuses on acquiring new residential customers for heating oil, and related heating equipment, while maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong prospecting, communication, and customer service skills to maximize growth and profitability in the territory.

Responsibilities
  • Prospect for new residential heating oil customers through cold calls, community engagement, and referrals
  • Conduct face‑to‑face meetings and follow‑up calls with potential customers to communicate Parkland’s value and service offerings
  • Cross‑sell heating equipment and maintenance plans to new and existing customers
  • Actively represent and promote the Ultramar brand within the community to increase market awareness
  • Track sales volumes, customer numbers, and profit margins using reports and CRM tools to identify growth opportunities
  • Prepare and submit weekly sales and call reports to management to track progress toward targets
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including operations, credit, dispatch, and marketing teams, to support customers and resolve issues
  • Manage customer accounts with professionalism, addressing billing or payment concerns and maintaining positive relationships
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of propane and fuel tank regulations, federal and provincial guidelines, and safety procedures
  • Perform administrative duties such as preparing expense and commission reports and attending regular sales meetings
  • Travel within the assigned territory, including occasional overnight stays
Requirements
  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience with a proven record of success
  • Formal sales training (on the job or formal coursework) required
  • Industry‑specific sales experience (propane, fuels, or HVAC) considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible, goal‑oriented, and highly self‑motivated with strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Must be able to work independently and manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory
