A provincial healthcare agency in Canada seeks a CRISPR Technician to support research in gene editing. CancerCare Manitoba is a provincial agency that provides clinical and academic services to advance cancer control and the treatment of blood disorders. Our shared vision of a world free of cancer drives every member of our team. The CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute (CCMR) is developing an innovative single‑cell technologies (SCT) platform that will include state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation and will enable the isolation, characterization, quantitative phenotyping and cancer modelling of single cells.
Reporting directly to the Director of the Platform, the CRISPR Technician will work with researchers to design, generate and organize human and mouse CRISPR libraries; perform molecular cloning/sub‑cloning of individual CRISPR vectors; perform in silico analyses/sequence retrieval for CRISPR sgRNA design; prepare and send samples for DNA sequencing; retrieve, grow and store plasmid stocks; generate viral particles and CRISPR‑modified cell lines; provide training; assist with generation of novel CRISPR models (CRISPR knockout; gene modification; CRISPRa/i); participate in the Advisory User Committee meetings; and seek out/attend continuing education and professional development opportunities to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of approaches.
