A leading research facility in Canada is seeking a Research Officer in Applied Cryptography. This role involves conducting cutting-edge research on post-quantum cryptography and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant field and have experience in cryptographic development and implementation. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement and a competitive salary package ranging from $83,985 to $139,608 based on experience and expertise.

Work arrangements: Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the designated work site at least three times per week or a minimum of 60% of their regular work schedule at their own expense.

We are looking for a Research Officer, Applied Cryptography to join our Cryptography and Quantum Computing team, and to support NRC’s Digital Technologies Research Centre (NRC-DT). The Research Officer, Applied Cryptography would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
Our Cryptography and Quantum Computing team conducts research on quantum/post-quantum cryptography, privacy-preserving computing, and quantum computing.
The primary responsibility of the researcher in this position is to support the goals of NRC and the activities of the Digital Technologies Research Centre in conducting research of international calibre in applied post-quantum cryptography and other related topics.
The researcher will work in a team environment with other researchers and technical experts in world-class facilities. The researcher will be called on to participate in international evaluations or demonstrations of the team’s applied technologies. Key responsibilities:

The intent of this hiring action is to staff this position at the AsRO to AcRO group and levels with a salary range of $83,985 to $139,608.
NOTE: Please note that the full RO/RCO salary scale has five levels. Salary determination will be based on a review of the candidate’s expertise, outcomes and impacts of their previous work experience relative to the requirements of the level. As such, the initial salary could be within another level of the RO/RCO salary scale (i.e. above or below the intended level for this position).
In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements (BBB/BBB) will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
