Job description

DEPARTMENT: SURGERY

LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE

STATUS: PART-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE OCT 2026)

WAGE RATE: $37.071 - $38.157

Reporting to the Manager, Surgical Services, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works collaboratively as a member of the inter‑disciplinary team to provide care to those patients with a stable and predictable outcome within the defined professional scope of practice as set out by the CNO.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Ontario College of Nurses registration
  • Two years recent acute care nursing experience
  • Medication Certification and ability to practice
  • Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
  • Competency in surgical aseptic technique, urinary catheterization, medication administration, IV therapy, Enteral feeding, POCT, wound care and drain care, PCA, chest tubes, epidural analgesia and monitoring patient receiving blood and blood products
  • Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Participation in staff meetings and unit specific projects
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
