A healthcare provider in Alberta is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the Emergency Department at Strathcona Community Hospital. The role involves providing comprehensive care to patients using critical thinking and nursing processes. The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $43.26 to $59.21 per hour as per qualifications.
This Registered Nurse opportunity is at the Strathcona Community Hospital; this facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory, and Diagnostic Imaging services. This position is the “front line” representative in delivering care within the Emergency Department. Based on a primary health care model, the incumbent functions within a multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards. This includes involvement with health promotion and prevention, health education, and treatment of illness and injury.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules. Min. 2 years emergency nursing experience within the last two years required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills required along with the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating priorities and workloads. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur.
Preference will be given to: applicants with Connect Care training and experience in ASAP environment; Certifications: Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and applicants that possess a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
