A leading healthcare provider in Alberta is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Cardiology Intensive Care Unit. The RN will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while being an integral part of the hospital's code blue team. This position requires critical thinking and related nursing experience, along with a strong commitment to patient safety. Flexible shifts are available, and competitive compensation rates apply for provisional permit holders.
The Registered Nurse - Cardiology Intensive Care Unit will provide care in a cardiology intensive care unit and perform as a member of the hospital code blue team.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Must have related experience, Minimum 1 year experience (full time) as a RN in an acute medical and/or surgical unit within the last 2 years. Be motivated to succeed and can complete the provincial critical care orientation program. Must possess strong critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to problem solve and organize in a busy workflow environment. Basic computer skills required. Ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustained posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects greater than 30 lbs.
Recent critical care or cardiology experience. Skill and knowledge in advanced dysrhythmia and 12 lead ECG interpretations. Certifications in Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Pulmonary Arterial catheter, Impella, and Charge Nurse training. Preference will be given to current FMC CICU RNs with a minimum of one-year critical care experience.
