About the role - Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic (Goose Lake)

This position will provide maintenance and repair support for a range of mobile and static explosive pumping equipment. Additionally, this position will complete regular fleet maintenance and inspections through the preventative maintenance program.

This position is based out of the Back River Gold District of Nunavut, Canada.

Work Schedule: 21 days on / 21 days off

What you will be doing
  • Decontamonating pumps and replacing stators per Orica standard
  • Safe use of hand and power tools to repair and perform maintenance duties
  • Operate equipment safely and according to relevant legislation
  • Complete all Orica training packages
  • Follow and adhere to all orica charter values and ERD Regulations.
  • Ensure minimal environmental damage through waste minimization and control
  • Site security requirements are followed at all times
  • Immediate reporting of unsafe actions or incidents to supervisor
  • Active participation in all safety meetings and TBT's
  • Receive and follow direction from supervisors and mentors.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies for Orica and customer sites.
  • Understanding of relevant MMU process operating systems.
  • Stay current with Orica best practices and emerging technologies as they relate to role.
  • Assist with parts ordering and inventory management as needed.
  • Willing to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Commence tank testing traineeship
  • Maintain tools and equipment at site or in service truck if applicable
What you will bring
  • Maintain and repair various vehicle and equipment types, Generator, compressor, small engines, pick ups, skid steers, MMU, wheel loaders, service trucks
  • Proficient in compliance inspections, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing all MMU process systems and truck chassis at site(s)
  • Competent with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, work orders and parts used and submit to HUBS as required for processing
  • Work with operators to test vehicles to verify repair effectiveness and troubleshoot issues
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
Your qualifications
  • Class 1 drivers’ license is an asset, OR Class 3 drivers’ license with air mandatory with clean abstract
  • Inter Provincial Red Seal certificate required (Heavy Duty or Truck and Transport)
  • CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Permit) is an asset
