Recycling & Waste Operations Associate

Location: Surrey, British Columbia
Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Compensation: $20–$26/hour + performance-based incentives

Position Overview

Recycle-It Canada provides compliant, environmentally responsible waste diversion and recycling services across the Lower Mainland. We are seeking a Recycling & Waste Operations Associate to support depot operations and on-site waste management services.

This role is responsible for the safe handling, sorting, transportation, and documentation of waste and recyclable materials, including regulated and hazardous waste streams, in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Sort and process recyclable, non-recyclable, and hazardous materials at the depot and on client sites.
  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Safely load, unload, and transport materials using company vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate 1–5 ton trucks as required (Class 5 license mandatory).
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate job notes, waste tracking, and basic operational records.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and dispatch.
  • Support continuous improvement in waste diversion and recycling efficiency.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Demonstrated awareness of workplace safety and environmental compliance.
  • Comfort handling hazardous and regulated waste materials following training and procedures.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and professionalism.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications (Assets)
  • Hazardous Waste Handling, Asbestos Awareness, or Environmental Safety certification.
  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification.
  • Forklift Operator certification.
  • Occupational First Aid.
  • Previous experience in waste management, recycling operations, environmental services, or industrial depot settings.
