The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. NVRC offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic Recreation Programmer I to join our team.

Great Customer Service

You will assist with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of community-based recreation, social and cultural programs. You may also have responsibility for the planning and implementation of smaller programs with guidance from your supervisor. You will participate in recruiting, training and evaluating instructors; promote interest and participation in programs and provide customer service to patrons and the public.

About You

You have sound knowledge of community recreation principles, practices, interests and resources; working knowledge of indoor/outdoor sports, fitness, health & wellness, social activities, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to our programs; the ability to plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and recommend changes to programs; the ability to recruit, train and evaluate instructors; and the ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.

Qualifications and Requirements

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by post-secondary courses on track to obtaining a Recreation Management certificate, diploma or degree, plus related experience. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business.

This is a regular part-time position for 21 hours per week including weekends, days or evenings based on operational needs.

The pay for this unionized regular part-time position starts at step 1, $31.97 and ranges up to $37.58 per hour, plus 10% in lieu of vacation and public holiday pay, as well as a comprehensive benefit package that includes enrolment into group life insurance, extended health, dental benefits, and the option to enroll in the Municipal Pension Plan upon eligibility.

All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.

All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment.
