Responsibilities
- Test card lots, readers, and capillary tubes from the assembly departments using written instructions.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of QC testing equipment and record activities in maintenance logs, with guidance from senior technicians.
- Track inventory of QC supplies, replenish in-house stock, and communicate reorder points to responsible personnel.
- Participate in testing process and equipment improvement efforts, including experimental testing, and maintain accurate records.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
- Post-secondary education in a scientific or related field, or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic troubleshooting of technological issues.
- Basic understanding of GMP and good laboratory practices.
- Ability to perform routine, detailed testing and adapt to varied tasks.
- Regular exposure to blood from screened donors.
- Flexibility to adjust work hours for overnight shifts and on-call support.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team while managing personal responsibilities.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and organize/prioritize multiple tasks.
- Basic computer, software application, and equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Awareness of health and safety in a laboratory environment.
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity and ability to distinguish colors.
- Combination of sitting and standing with extended periods of detailed visual inspection.
- Regular handling of blood from screened donors.
- Walking, bending, stretching, and occasional lifting of boxes up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills
- Experience in Quality Control, including blood testing, pipettes, centrifuges, and tabletop analyzers.
- Knowledge of basic statistics.
- Trained phlebotomist.
