A quality assurance firm in Alberta is seeking a QC Coordinator to ensure high product quality standards. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of laboratory testing experience, preferably in the oil and gas sector, and strong leadership skills. The position is located in Sundre and Slave Lake.

Qualifications

Overview

Our Client is seeking a QC Coordinator to support its business in ensuring high product quality standards across its operations. The successful candidate will oversee laboratory operations in Sundre and Slave Lake, maintain quality control systems, support customer engagement on product quality issues, and provide leadership in lab testing and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enforce product quality control specifications for products
  • Provide technical support in troubleshooting and resolving quality issues, including data mining and root cause analysis
  • Manage and coordinate operations across two laboratory sites (Sundre and Slave Lake), including:
    • Verification and calibration of lab equipment
    • Oversight and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Competency verification and training programs for lab technicians
    • Liaise with crude oil producers and finished product customers to address quality concerns using industry-accepted methodologies
    • Interface with third-party laboratories for external testing and validation
    • Support leadership in driving lab quality programs and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • 5–10 years of laboratory testing experience, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
  • Proven experience with ASTM testing methodologies related to crude oil and refined petroleum products.
  • Strong knowledge in development and enforcement of lab SOPs, quality standards, and equipment calibration protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills, including mentoring and training lab staff.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with both internal teams and external partners.
Assets (Nice to Have)
  • Prior experience managing multi-site lab operations
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for crude and refined product testing
