Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Operate trucks and construction equipment, and labor required in the maintenance of blading roads, dust control, asphalt patching, hauling materials, crack sealing, ditching, culvert maintenance, sign maintenance and installations, line painting, garbage/recycling collection and drop‑of, storm drain maintenance, street sweeping, sidewalk construction, curb and sidewalk repairs, water break excavations, tree trimming, snow removal and ice control. Operate saws and other small equipment and tools to maintain street, traffic systems, Town facilities, aqua‑flo units, water meters and other public property.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and report defects or needed repairs to the supervisor, and clean equipment including general maintenance of all public facilities.
  • Assist in repairs to trucks and equipment as required.
  • Operate and maintain the water treatment plant, wastewater lift stations, sewer collection systems, water main infrastructure and the sewage treatment plant as required.
  • Perform water meter readings as required.
  • Respond to emergency call‑outs when required.
  • Perform other duties with the Utilities and Recreation Departments as needed.
  • Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
Qualifications
  • Class 3 with Air Brakes endorsement Manitoba driver’s license obtained within one (1) year of hire.
  • Willing to obtain Manitoba Landfill Operator’s certificate.
  • Willing to obtain Water and Wastewater Courses.
  • Suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
