About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full‑time Project Management Lead – Quality Management System to join our dynamic Quality Management System (QMS) team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage quality improvement projects from initiation through completion while monitoring progress, preparing reports, and communicating updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, quality teams, and operational units to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
- Support efficiency improvements within established QMS processes leveraging strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as defined by regulatory bodies.
- Apply design control and project management life cycle principles to effectively integrate these principles within the Quality Management System.
- Develop and maintain project quality plans and provide training and guidance to project teams on quality expectations (e.g., change management, quality event management, document management).
- Integrate core quality elements such as design controls, process controls, cost of quality, and auditing into quality system processes.
- Ensure resource needs and project quality requirements are met and that deliverables meet all defined quality and project requirements.
- Influence and guide stakeholders toward risk‑based compliant solutions and foster continuous improvement across quality systems and processes.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Desired education and skills
- Post‑secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Engineering Science, Quality Management, or related fields.
- Five years of experience in quality systems project management or equivalent role in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical devices, biotechnology, healthcare).
- Experience as a project team member in a project management environment working with multiple areas of organization such as supply chain, quality and other divisions.
- Formal training in project management, quality systems continuous improvement, and design control.
- Experience and training in quality principles such as validation, change control, document control, process non‑conformance, preferably with blood bank industry experience as an asset.
- Strong ability to conceptualize, analyze, simplify, and communicate complex processes.
- Solid knowledge of Quality Management Systems and improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma).
- Effective under pressure with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong project management skills including risk assessment and stakeholder communication.

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services office 40% of the time (2 days of the week). This requirement is subject to change based on operational needs.
- You will work Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week 7.5 hours a day.
- This role may require travel on a quarterly basis or as needed for in‑person meetings and project commitments.
Hybrid work details
Hybrid work will require a minimum 40% onsite time at a Canadian Blood Services office. Hours are Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
