Job summary

A healthcare institution in Hamilton is seeking a Program Secretary to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Women’s Health and Newborn Care Program. The ideal candidate will have a Community College Business Administration background and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in computer applications, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members are essential. This is a temporary position until January 2027, working Monday to Friday during the day.

Qualifications

  • Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm).
  • Medical Terminology knowledge.

Qualifications
  • 1. Graduate of Community College Business Administration Program
  • 2. Minimum 2 years current related experience
  • 3. Medical Terminology
  • 4. Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
  • 5. Excellent computer skills in a variety of applications including Windows, MS Word, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Peoplesoft, Budget Tool
  • 6. Experience with invoice management and excellent transcription and minute-taking abilities
  • 2. Experience with scheduling and payroll in the Kronos Scheduler and Timekeeper system.
  • 7. Demonstrated excellence in effective communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • 8. Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of position
  • 9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • 10. Ability to work independently and display initiative

This position is temporary until January 2027.

The Women’s Health and Newborn Care Program at Hamilton Health Sciences provides family-focused women’s and neonatal health services. An interdisciplinary team provides obstetrical care to healthy child bearing women and newborns as well as the high risk obstetrical population.

Responsibilities

The Program Secretary will provide full secretarial and administrative support to the Clinical Manager, Clinical Leaders and Educators of the Women’s Health and Newborn Care Program located at McMaster University Medical Centre.
