What you’ll do:

Legacy Co-op is recruiting a Part–Time Produce Technician to work in a new, year-round indoor greenhouse producing fresh, local vegetables for the community.

Reporting to the Produce Manager, you will be responsible for delivering legendary service to make all guests of our Co-op feel “at home here” through:

  • Harvest, clean, and package fresh produce. Complete regular operating tasks in the farm, including seeding, transplanting, and regular cleaning and maintenance. Deliver produce when required.
  • Assist with implementing strategies to improve produce sales and actively be involved in marketing efforts such as promoting food production and good eating habits by arranging in-store sampling.
  • As you become more familiar with the technology, you may be asked to aid in identifying or troubleshooting issues that may arise, including of a mechanical or horticultural nature.
  • Maintain appropriate records including markdown reports and growing/harvest records.
Who you are:
  • Experienced growing vegetables or other plants (even at home!)
  • Comfortable with technology, such as Google & Microsoft Office suites, and iPads/Windows computers
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Have a high level of enthusiasm and strong commitment to learning
  • Mechanically inclined and enjoy working with tools and technology
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
  • Certificate or degree in agriculture, horticulture or related field an asset
  • You are willing to work all shifts scheduled including days, evenings, holidays and weekends
  • Maintain good physical condition, physically able to do heavy lifting of 50 lbs, climb ladders, kneel, and work full shifts on feet
  • Willing to drive locally, possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver license throughout employment
