Job description
Process Engineer - Line Sizing & Hydraulics - Temporary (12-month Term)
Summary

We are looking for a Process Engineer to support hydraulic calculations and line sizing across modular and field facilities. You will size process and utility lines ensuring reliable operation across all modes.

This role ensures hydraulic results are incorporated into P&IDs and that sizing criteria from specifications are applied accurately. You will also support drain and purge system design for safe operation and maintenance.

This is a temporary role on a 12-month Term and is based out of our 47 St Southeast office.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform detailed process and utility line sizing using validated simulation data
  • Evaluate pump suction and discharge systems including NPSH requirements
  • Support compressor auxiliary lines including lube and seal systems
  • Complete reboiler elevation and hydraulic assessments
  • Conduct overall package and plant hydraulic calculations including pressure-drop analysis
  • Update P&IDs with accurate setpoints and pressure/flow requirements resulting from hydraulic studies
  • Apply sizing criteria per project specifications and standards
  • Design drain and purge systems for safe operation and maintenance of process equipment
  • Support troubleshooting and operability assessments during design reviews
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Eligible for, or currently registered as, a P.Eng. with APEGA (or equivalent)
  • 3-8 years of experience in hydraulic modeling and line sizing for process facilities
  • Working knowledge of fluid dynamics, NPSH, and hydraulic performance evaluation
  • Familiarity with AFT Arrow/Fathom or similar hydraulic calculation tools (asset)
  • Capability to update P&IDs and setpoints based on system performance findings
  • Strong understanding of operability and maintenance considerations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience supporting detailed design reviews or troubleshooting operational issues
