About the role:

We are looking for a Process Engineer II to support our Process Development team. You will be part of a team of talented engineers and process subject matter experts who work collaboratively with internal and global cross‑functional teams to create innovative world‑class technologies for medical device manufacturing. You will contribute to the development of new products and technologies through research and innovation. This is a one‑year contract position. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical engineering and polymer processing with a strong engineering foundation, excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn!

Please note that this is a 1‑year contract opportunity

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborate with R&D to develop product concepts, influence design specifications, and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input
  • Work cross‑functionally to develop and deliver capable processes and equipment to operations
  • Contribute to technical activities for developing and enhancing technologies for medical device manufacturing
  • Assist in detailed engineering assessments of novel design and technology concepts.
  • Collaborate on designing and executing experimental plans to gather data for informed decision‑making.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and/or automation
  • Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and innovate and implement process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes
  • Execute the functional deliverables associated with the product development and technology development phases, as well as project management and quality systems
  • Gather, provide, and present technical data for technical reviews and decision making
  • Write work instructions, technical reports, validations, and qualifications by capturing experimental results
  • Contribute ideas to or generate Intellectual Property submissions
  • Train manufacturing personnel when required as part of prototype line development and validation
  • Apply problem‑solving methodologies and best practices to improve products and processes.
  • Adhere to Quality Management System requirements and company values.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, promptly reporting any unsafe working conditions.
  • Be available for occasional travel as necessary.
  • Assist in other duties as needed.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field required
  • 2‑3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in exploratory process design, characterization and development
  • Experience in process verification and validation, process FMEA, and project management
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and design for manufacturing
  • Strong root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities
  • Solid knowledge of fixture design, experimental design and statistical analysis
  • Proficiency in CAD Software such as SolidWorks.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Work experience in medical device industry, with focus on cardiology product development such as catheters, dilators and steerable sheaths
  • Experience developing, characterizing and troubleshooting various types of processes for improved product performance and yield
  • Proficiency in CAD Software such as SolidWorks.
  • Excellent documentation skills and experience producing engineering drawings
  • Demonstrated use of Design for Six Sigma tools (Design of Experiments, problem solving)
  • Experience in New Product Development projects
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional teamwork in technical environment

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com – will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for hourly, non‑sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
