Overview

DLL is seeking an experienced Privacy Director to lead our comprehensive privacy strategy and program. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer this role will oversee the enhancement of our privacy framework to ensure compliance with global regulations while enabling business growth and innovation. The Privacy Director will also support operational privacy activities across Canada collaborating with group and local compliance teams to implement privacy-related policies processes and controls. This strategic leader will navigate complex regulatory landscapes and partner effectively across all levels of the organization.

Day to Day
Strategic Leadership
  • Execute the Canadian regions privacy vision strategy and roadmap
  • Partner with executive leadership to integrate privacy into business strategy
  • Represent DLL on privacy matters to the Global Privacy Team regulators and stakeholders
Program Management & Compliance
  • Oversee Canadian privacy compliance across all provinces
  • Conduct privacy risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
  • Monitor evolving privacy laws and adjust policies accordingly
  • Maintain a robust privacy program in collaboration with compliance teams
  • Implement and enhance privacy-related forms policies and procedures
  • Update Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) and embed privacy by design
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
  • Compile and report on key privacy metrics
  • Maintain data maps for business processes and IT systems
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Information Security Legal Data & Analytics and business units
  • Provide privacy guidance for new products and initiatives
  • Lead privacy due diligence and integration activities
  • Manage vendor and third-party privacy compliance
  • Participate in audits and regulatory examinations
  • Support privacy training and awareness programs
  • Assist with record retention and destruction efforts
Incident Response & Rights Management
  • Lead privacy incident investigations and breach response
  • Oversee data subject rights (DSR) processes including consent and request handling
  • Manage regulatory interactions during investigations or inquiries
Innovation & Emerging Technologies
  • Assess privacy implications of emerging technologies (AI ML etc.)
  • Develop privacy-by-design principles for new systems and tools

Essentials

  • Preferred: Equipment leasing / vendor finance experience, privacy certifications (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT), consulting or legal advisory background

Desired Primary Work Location: Burlington, ON – This is a hybrid position requiring the member to come into the office twice a week on average
