The successful candidate will participate in hardware qualification, certification and verification activities for new or revised products and lead associated reports to customer acceptance, using processes based on established engineering principles to meet requirements.

Key Responsibilities / Principales responsabilités
- Conduct electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests on electronic devices designed for railway signaling systems according to industry standards.
- Conduct environmental qualification tests such as temperature, humidity, shock and vibration on electronic devices designed for railway signaling systems according to industry standards.
- Be familiar with railway (or similar industry) EMC and environmental standards; standards include EN 61000 series, EN 50121 series, EN 50125, EN 50155, FCC, AREMA, MIL standards, etc.
- Knowledge of grounding, shielding, surge protection and other basic EMC concepts.
- Operate hardware test equipment and simulators deployed in the hardware qualification test process.
- Participate in troubleshooting EMC tests and provide relevant measurements and technical details to the design team.
- Prepare project EMC documentation including EMC Control Plan, EMC Compatibility Study, EMC Hazard Analysis and EMC Test Report and drive them to customer acceptance.
- Prepare hardware environmental qualification plans and reports to specified requirements and provide feedback on approaches.
- Lead subcontractors for specific EMC site measurements in line with customer requirements.
- Participate in ISA (International Standards on Auditing) committee audits on EMC and environmental requirements.
- Familiarity with fire, smoke and toxicity concepts; standards include EN 45545 and NFPA 130 (asset).
- Familiar with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion) and the requirement verification process per CENELEC standards.
- Collaborate in a professional team environment and develop junior team members as needed.
Qualifications / Compétences et expérience requises
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of diplomas and work experience.
- 6 to 10+ years of professional experience.
- Excellent knowledge of EMC concepts (cabling, grounding techniques, surge protection, etc.).
- Ability to operate EMC engineering measurement tools.
- Professional verbal communication and effective writing skills enabling clear, concise documentation with sufficient information.
- Ability to follow instructions and use good judgment in performing assigned work.
- Ability to present pros and cons for various actions and to track progress on tasks.
- Verify that all assigned work is completed accurately.
Compétences et expérience souhaitées
- 6 to 10+ years of experience or more in the railway signaling sector with international standards.
- In-depth knowledge of EMC principles impacting emission and immunity performance of electronic circuits.
- Proficiency in EMC analysis to evaluate proposed changes and build similarity cases.
- Design and execute tests to verify functionality and identify and resolve problems.
- Ability to operate complex EMC measurement tools in lab and on site.
- Knowledge of radio certification requirements and processes including FCC, Industry Canada, ETSI and relevant safety standards.
- Knowledge of CE certification process and associated European Directive for electronic equipment.
- Ability to review applicable specifications and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Interest in staying current with technology in the discipline; Professional Engineer’s License (P.Eng.) is a plus.
Prefered / Atouts
- Additional hours: 6 to 10+ years in Railway Signalling industry with global standards.
- Deep knowledge of EMC concepts affecting emission/immunity, and capability to perform EMC analysis and lab/site measurements.
- Experience with radio certification processes (FCC, Industry Canada, ETSI) and CE marking.
- Proactive in reviewing specifications and ensuring compliance with standards.
- PE license (P.Eng.) is preferred.
