As the Program Lead, you will be responsible for providing advanced specialized program administrative and technical expertise for the Power Engineering Program that impacts the province, as well as leading projects and initiatives within the mandate of the department.
The Program Lead, Power Engineering supports a team of technical safety professionals who are responsible for setting the health and technical safety rules and promoting, verifying, and enforcing compliance with the Province's Technical Safety Act, regulations, and safety standards for boiler and pressure equipment, power engineering, registered plants, fuel systems, and cranes.
The Program Lead works collaboratively across government and with various stakeholders and sectors to build collaborative relationships.
At the Safety Branch of the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI), we are responsible for delivering effective regulatory management for the protection of the public and workers' safety through education, outreach, inspection and enforcement, equipment registration, permits, and licenses. Our staff of over 115 employees, located throughout Nova Scotia, use the Pathways to Compliance to enhance compliance by setting, promoting, verifying and enforcing requirements under various pieces of legislation.
