Overview

Job Title: Power BI Analyst

Duration: 6+ Months with a potential for extension and FTE

Working Model: 4 days onsite and one day remote

Location: Toronto, ON M5X 1A3

Summary: Want someone to hit the ground running and able to develop dashboards and handle tasks with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with PMO leadership / stakeholders to understand reporting needs, KPIs, metrics.
  • Design, build, validate, and maintain dashboards using Power BI.
  • Create recurring reports (weekly/monthly/quarterly) and also ad-hoc reporting to support decision making.
  • Pull and transform data from relevant sources (databases, spreadsheets, internal systems). Use Power Query, etc., to clean, aggregate, transform data.
  • Build DAX measures, calculated columns/tables, filters, variables as needed for dashboards.
  • Monitor and ensure data quality, consistency, and timeliness. Troubleshoot discrepancies or data issues.
  • Optimize report performance (model optimization, reducing latency, managing data refresh rates).
  • Maintain documentation of data sources, dashboard logic, metrics definitions.
  • Ensure proper data governance and security: permissions, access, version control.
  • Train or support users of the dashboards as needed; collect feedback.
  • Post-secondary degree in related field (Business, Finance, Data Analytics, IT, Statistics, etc.)
Qualifications
  • Experience (e.g. 2-5 years) in creating dashboards/reports with Power BI.
  • Strong with DAX (measures, calculated fields/tables, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools (Power Query / M).
  • Good knowledge of SQL (if extracting from relational databases) is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail; strong analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Good communication skills: able to talk with non-technical stakeholders and present data clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize among competing report/dashboard requests.
