A municipal police service in Grande Prairie is seeking dedicated officers to join their newly established force. The ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, be 18 years or older, and possess strong communication skills. Responsibilities include enforcing laws, conducting investigations, and responding to emergencies. Competitive wages start at $37.69 per hour, with comprehensive benefits. The City of Grande Prairie received Ministerial Approval to form the Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) in March 2023, making it the first municipal police service to be established in Alberta since 1956. The GPPS is committed to building a modern, professional, ethical, equitable, and locally accountable police service that enhances public safety within our community. Once fully staffed, the GPPS will be a full-spectrum public safety agency with more than 225 personnel comprising police officers, peace officers, outreach workers, social workers, nurses, and other civilian professionals.
We are looking for individuals who can help us elevate ourselves to provide high-quality policing response to support the vibrant growing community of Grande Prairie. The Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) is a progressive and community-focused police service committed to excellence in public safety. We are seeking officers to play a key role in the establishment and growth of our new service.
Constable 5 — $37.69 per hour
Constable 4 — $40.48 per hour
Constable 3 — $46.06 per hour
Constable 2 — $51.64 per hour
Constable 1 — $55.83 per hour
Sr. Cst I (7 years) — $59.74 per hour
Sr. Cst II (11 years) — $60.86 per hour
This posting will close October 31, 2025, with the new recruit class starting in Q2 of 2026.
As a new officer you will be required to complete several steps within the recruitment process. This includes APCAT, APREP, interviews, psychological evaluation, a background investigation, and a polygraph test.
