Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian is seeking Physicians to work as Medical Standards Analysts with the Directorate of Medical Policy at the Canadian Forces Health Services Group Headquarters in Ottawa. We are looking for qualified individuals who can offer a minimum of 3 days a week - hours are flexible and can be performed outside of normal work hours. As a physician on this team, your role will be to review medical records and determine the medical fitness, employment limitations and the medical category for current Canadian Armed Forces members as well as new recruit applicants.

Responsibilities
  • Review CAF members’ medical files and determine medical employment limitations;
  • Review CAF applicants’ medical files and determine medical fitness, as per CAF Common Enrolment Medical Standards;
  • Communicate with and provide occupational health advice to CF Health Services Centre healthcare providers regarding the occupational health status CAF members through email, memo, letter, and forms;
  • Communicate with and provide occupational health advice to the Directorate of Military Career Administration staff regarding occupational health status CAF members
  • Provide education and advice to healthcare providers about medical standards processes and guidelines;
Mandatory Qualifications
  • Active licence with a Canadian provincial or territorial regulatory authority
  • CCFP certification
  • At least 6 years of experience in primary care, occupational medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine
  • At least 3 years of occupational medicine experience
  • Prior experience working with the Canadian Armed Forces is a must
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset

You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
